Inspired by the "White Bike" expirement in Amsterdam. Check out the story here.

Since Washington, DC is great for free stuff like museums (and not so great with pay stuff like the Metro), if anyone has an idea about something similar we can do here, let us know. Be it bikes, Metro passes or Diet Cokes, any way to foster a greater sense of community interaction would be appreciated.

The first Direct Action post: Save Social Security

OK...W and his administration are looking at partial privatization of Social Security. But you knew that. While I applaud efforts to review any governement program and see if there is a better way, I don't trust this administration or this Congress to be the ones to make changes to Social Security. The only people who will see a rise in any benefit will be Wall Street. And that suits W and this Congress just fine.

So here's an opportunity to sign on to a letter to Congress asking them to not support W's plan. Click here to sign the letter.

You can also sign up to host/lead a town hall meeting to discuss SS reform for Wellstone Action here. Hence the reason this is posted here as well as in Direct Action.

In the imortal words of the Beastie Boys sample: Now...get busy!

Golf Umbrellas - Not Just for Golfing Anymore!

OK, so b (hopefully a regular contributer) just wrote:

i'd like to suggest that the 'direct community action' for the day be to take back the sidewalks from those who feel that walking along a narrow sidewalk with a GOLF UMBRELLA is appropriate. who's with me?

Who's with b? Huh? It's important to note that the purpose of the community section of Prole Blog Threat is to find ways to take the community back from the selfish and self-absorbed. Trucking down the sidewalk with a golf umbrella is equivalent to speeding through the slow lane in a Lexus SUV with your halogen high beams on. It simply is intended to knock "lesser mortals' out of your way.

So...who's with b? any ideas out there about how we can label golf umbrella users the same way we label fur wearers (with red paint). How about a sticker we slap on the umbrella that simply reads "Ass." At least we know the simple-minded twit carrying the umbrella will get it.
